The invention relates to sterile polymers available in the form of particles and which can be expanded, and are designed to form low density foam materials, and for this purpose contain at least one accelerator or, foaming. Said polymers, in order to improve their insulation capabilities, contain at least particulate aluminum particles. After expanding, styrene polymers are distinguished by fine cell structure. Aluminum particles are homogeneously distributed and incorporated as reflective material for infrared rays. The predominant part of said aluminum particles is of lamellar shape, and their size ranges from 1 to 15 micro-meters. Styrene polymers produced thus can be penetrated, and thus foamed materials with a maximum density of 30 g / l and improved insulating properties can be created from polystyrene particles. |
