titleOfInvention Water repellent solution for wood and process
abstract Wood treatment solns. comprising: (a) an organo-metallic complex of a hydrophobic fatty acid coordinated with a halogenated trivalent Cr; and (b) water contg. a strong reducing acid pH reducing component distinct from component (a). The pH reducing component is pref. a mixt. of HCl and hypochlorite. The complex is pref. chromium, pentahydroxy(tetradecanoato)di; tetradecanoato chromic chloride hydroxide (1:2:4:1), octadecanoato chromic chloride hydroxide (1;2:4:1); or mixts. The pH of the water is reduced to 0.5-2, pref. 1. The soln. pref. contains 1-10 wt.% complex, 90-98 wt.% water and 0.5-1 wt.% pH reducing component.
