titleOfInvention | COMPOSITION BASED ON FINALLY DISTRIBUTED INORGANIC MATERIAL FOR USE AS FILLING OR PIGMENT FOR POLYMER MATERIAL OR FOR COLORING, OPACIFICATION, EXTENSION, REINFORCING ETC OF POLYMER MATERIAL |
abstract | 1519685 Treating inorganic particles KENRICH PETROCHEMICALS Inc 13 May 1976 [30 Sept 1975 19 April 1976] 19694/76 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C2, C3 and C4] Compounds of the general formula are used for treating comminuted inorganic materials prior to their incorporation into polymers; A is a non-hydrolyzable aroxy, thioaroxy, -OCOR<SP>1</SP>, -OSO 2 R<SP>11</SP>, -OSOR<SP>11</SP>, (R<SP>11</SP>O) 2 P(O)- OP(OH)(O)-, or (R<SP>11</SP>O) 2 P(O)O- group, the two As being the same or different, B is an R 2 C group or a carbonyl group, each R is independently hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R<SP>1</SP> and R" are hydrogen or an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl group, or an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl, halo, amino, epoxy, ether, thioether, ester, cyano, carbonyl or aromatic nitro substituted derivative thereof, and n is 1 or 2. The inorganic materials treated may be silica, clay, carbon black, calcium carbonate, barium sulphate, mica, glass, asbestos, iron, sulphur, oxides of zinc, magnesium, lead, calcium, aluminium or titanium, or pigments, e.g. zinc chromate or ultramarine blue. The fillers are used in polypropylene, nylon, polyurethane, epoxy resin, and also a water-based acrylic paint. In Example 1 the viscosity of a dispersion of wet silica in heavy mineral oil is lower when an organo titanate of Formula I is present. Comparative organo titanates are also disclosed. |
