abstract There are disclosed an improvement in the method for producing an acetophenone derivative of the formula: < IMG > wherein R is a protective group for hydroxy group, which comprises condensing a halogenoacetophenone derivative of the formula: < IMG > wherein X is a halogen atom and R is as defined above, with 3,4-dimethoxyphenethylamine in a two-phase solvent system of a non-hydrophilic organic solvent and water in the presence of an acid acceptor.
