abstract Salt lick is made from compressed powder or granular material which contains mono or dicalcium phosphate, limestone, salt and some trace mineral elements and a binder. The calcium phosphate and salt are major constituents. - Pref. mixt. includes 20-60% monocalcium phosphate, 4-20% dolomite limestone, 10.4-4% magnesium oxide and/or 0.4-5% magnesium chloride, 20-70% salt, 0.4-2% bentonite, 0.2-2% iron oxide, 0-0.5% zinc oxide, 0-0.3% manganese sulphate, 0-0.17% copper sulphate and 0-0.1% pentacalcium orthoperiodate, sodium selenite and cobalt sulphate.
