A method and installation for reduction of a content of sulphur oxides in an exhaust gas flow (106) from a marine diesel engine (102), comprising the steps of spraying water (82) and an aerosol including an alkaline water solution (84) into the flow to react with the sulphur oxides in the flow to generate disposable reaction products thereof, and centrifugally separating the aerosol droplets containing the disposable reaction products from the exhaust gases. According to the invention, the spraying step comprises spraying the water for cooling the flow and for evaporating in the flow to saturate the flow with water vapor, generating the aerosol by atomization of the alkaline water solution, and spraying the aerosol into the saturated flow. |
