abstract The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring a fuel system in an internal combustion engine. According to the invention, the fuel system comprises a single fuel pump which can be operated independently of the engine speed as well as sensors for measuring the level in the fuel tank and pressure and / or flow in the fuel line. Unit controller receives values from the sensors and compares them with stored, expected values. If any measured value deviates from the expected, an indication signal can be sent to alert the driver or staff at a workshop, of possible leakage of the fuel system. (Figure 1)
