abstract The module units incorporate a test mass, a sensor for monitoring the position of the test mass and components for applying reset forces on the test mass. The module units are encapsulated in an evacuated container. Servo-controlled reset forces are applied to hold the test mass in an unstable dynamic equilibrium. A number of module units, dependent upon the range of usage, are arranged in an annular matrix, which together with a data processor function as a measurement unit.
