titleOfInvention | electrolysis |
abstract | In this is described an electrolytic cell with an electrolyte in the form of a solid polymer, in which the cell presents a permionic carboxy-acid membrane arranged between the anolyte and the catolyte. The cathode can be a depolarised cathode, e.g. one with a peroxide compound depolarised cathode, one with a redox pair depolarised cathode or one with an oxidant-complex depolarised cathode. The cathode can be a boride, e.g. titanium diboride, an intercalation compound of carbon and fluorine or a transition metal, e.g. iron, cobalt or nickel. Electrocatalysts, e.g. anode and cathode, can be brought to adhere to the permionic membrane through chemical deposition. The anode can be in the form of a particle with hydrophobic material. The individual anode particles can be silicon extended. The electrolysis procedure can be carried out at high pressure, whereby one obtains liquid chlorine, which is thereafter separated from the salt solution. The cell can be horizontal and be provided with an inner heat exchanging organ. In the case of a bi-polar cell, the bi-polar conductor element can be made of silicon or a titanium alloy as well as having a heat conducting and reagent supply organ incorporated therein.<IMAGE> |
