Heading C2C. 3 - Carboxyalkyl - phenthiazines of the general formula where R represents H, or CH 3 , R 1 represents H, CH 3 or ethyl and Y represents H, or halogen, or an alkyl, alkoxy, or alkylthio group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, are obtained in a process which comprises heating in the presence of a trialkyl phosphite a diphenylsulphide of the general formula where T 1 represents a lower alkoxycarbonyl group and R 1 and Y are as above, and hydrolysing by known methods the resulting 3-alkoxycarbonylalkyl-phenthiazine compound of general formula where R 1 , T 1 and Y are as above, to obtain as product a phenthiazine derivative of general Formula (I) where R represents H, or N-methylating by known methods the 3-alkoxycarbonylalkyl-phenthiazine intermediate and hydrolysing by known methods the resulting 3-alkoxycarbonyl alkyl-10-methylphenthiazine to obtain as product a phenthiazine derivative of general Formula (I), where R represents a methyl group. |
