Heading ASE [Also in Division C2] Herbicidal compositions comprise a compound of the formula: wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a cyclohexenyl or cyclooctenyl radical; R<SP>2</SP> is a chlorine or bromine atom; R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen; R<SP>4</SP> is hydrogen, &alpha; - hydroxy - #, #,#-trihaloethyl or NH 2 or the group -Co.R<SP>5</SP> in which R<SP>5</SP> denotes lower alkyl containing to carbon atoms which may also contain chlorine as substituent, -NH.C 6 H 5 , -COOR<SP>6</SP> or -CH=CH.COOR<SP>6</SP> wherein R<SP>6</SP> is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; or R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> together denote the radical -CO.CH=CH.CO- or =CH.N (CH 3 )R<SP>7</SP> wherein R<SP>7</SP> denotes hydrogen or methyl optionally in association with a solid or liquid carrier, preparation thereof and use thereof to control unwanted plant growth by treating the plant or the soil in which the plants are growing or are to grow with a phytotoxic amount of the active ingredient. The treatment of crop plants and of numerous species of unwanted lants is exemplified and the activity of the Compounds of the invention is compared with that of 1 - phenyl - 4 - amino - 5 - chloropyridazone - 6 and 2 - chloro - 4, 6 - bis(ethylamino) - s - triazine.
