abstract The invention comprises isoxazole compounds of the general Formula (I) <FORM:1065889/C2/1> wherein R is a substituted or unsubstituted isocyclic or heterocyclic ring, each of R1 and R11 is a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic hydrocarbon residue, or wherein R1 and R11 together with the nitrogen atom represent a heterocyclic group, A is an alkylene group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and wherein one of the groups R and AN< is present at the 3-position and the other at the 5-position, and salts thereof. These compounds may be prepared by reacting a halogenoalkylisoxazole of the Formula (II) <FORM:1065889/C2/2> wherein R and A are as defined above and X is a halogen atom and one of the groups R and AX is in the 3-position and the other in the 5-position, with an amine of the Formula (III) <FORM:1065889/C2/3> wherein R1 and R11 are as defined above, if necessary in the presence of a basic substance. The compounds of Formula (I) or nontoxic salts thereof may be employed in admixture with inert diluents or carriers as antipyretic, analgesic, antitussive, and/or anti-inflammatory agents.
