abstract Cephalosporin C is purified by adsorbing it from an aqueous solution on to strong cation exchange material containing sulphonic acid groups and eluting adsorbed material with an alkaline reagent. The aqueous solution may be a fermentation medium from which Cephalosporin N and chloride ions have been removed by known methods.
