abstract | The present invention relates to a method for controlling the rotation speed of a tool (3) in a rock drilling device, wherein at least one hydraulic motor (16: 41) is arranged for rotation of said tool (3), and wherein said hydraulic motor (16; 41) is driven by a hydraulic pump (15; 42; 60) which, during operation, delivers a flow of hydraulic fluid. The method comprises: - passing substantially the entire hydraulic fluid flow delivered by the hydraulic pump (15: 42; 60) through the at least one hydraulic motor (16; 41), and - controlling the hydraulic fluid flow emitted from the hydraulic pump (15: 42; 60), wherein the the hydraulic fluid flow directly dependent on the rotational speed of the hydraulic motor (16; 41), and thus of the tool (3), is controlled.
