titleOfInvention Composition
abstract Composition comprises at least three different diols. Composition (C1) comprises at least three (preferably at least four or five) different diols (0.1-50, preferably 0.25-50, especially 0.25-20 v/v.%), of formula (CH2)nH2O2 and at least one diol is (CH2)3H2O2. n = 3-10 (preferably 3-6). - ACTIVITY : Antimicrobial; Antibacterial; Virucide; Fungicide. - MECHANISM OF ACTION : Microbial growth inhibitor. Each of propane-1,2-diol, pentane-1,5-diol and 2-methyl pentane-2,4-diol (1:1:1 v/v) was diluted directly with test culture medium, Diagnostic Sensitivity test agar (DST). Staphylococcus aureus (A) cells were added to the agar medium in concentrations of 103> and 105> cells/ml. Plates were incubated at 37 [deg] C and analyzed after 1 and 2 days. Each experiment was repeated. MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) was calculated in vitro. The combination of 3% of each of the diols completely inhibited the growth of (A).
