abstract The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical formulation for intranasal administration comprising morphine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof at a pH from about 3.0 to about 7.0. Such formulations provide enhanced absorption of morphine or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method for eliciting an analgesic or anaesthetic response in a mammal which includes nasally administering a therapeutically effective amount of morphine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof at a pH from about 3.0 to about 7.0. <IMAGE>
