High temperature crosslinked fracturing fluids |
abstract |
The invention relates to a cracking fluid comprising an aqueous copolymer composition comprising a copolymer and the copolymer having 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, acrylamide, acrylic acid monomer units or a salt thereof and a crosslinker. The crosslinker comprises a metal and has a metal to copolymer weight ratio in the range of 0.01 to 0.08. Underground treatment comprises the introduction of a fracturing fluid into the subterranean formation and crosslinking of the fracturing fluid into the subsurface formation to produce a crosslinked fracturing fluid. The cross-linked fracturing fluid has a viscosity of at least 500 cP for a period of at least 80 minutes when the gel is subjected to a shear rate of 40 sec-1 at a temperature in the range of 300°F to 400°F. |
