abstract One aspect of the invention relates to an anhydrous (water-free) antiperspirant compound comprising (1) aluminum chloride or a hydrate thereof, (2) at least one calcium or magnesium salt of an organic acid, and (3) at least one water miscible solvent. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method to prevent or reduce sweating comprising the application of an anhydrous antiperspirant compound to the skin comprising the above-mentioned ingredients. Another aspect of the present invention provides a method for the fabrication of an anhydrous antiperspirant compound comprising (i) providing at least one water-miscible solvent, (ii) optionally adding a thickener, (iii) adding at least one calcium or magnesium salt of an organic acid, (4) Optionally adding an oily substance, (5) adding a solution of aluminum chloride or any hydrate thereof to form the anhydrous antiperspirant compound mentioned above.
