The invention relates to medicines having anxiolytic action and containing, as active substance, derivatives of 1-styrylisoquinoline of the general formula In = 1,2,3 or 4 R may have the same or different meanings and represent hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl or hydroxyl, or two R substituents bonded to adjacent carbon atoms may form an alkylenedioxy group in combination with each other; R is hydrogen or lower alkyl, Ar is optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl. The invention also provides a process for the preparation of new compounds of general formula I, wherein the compounds of general formula II are reacted with an aldehyde of general formula III Ar-CHO, where Ar is optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl in the presence of a condensing agent or acid catalyst. |
