abstract The inventive catalytic system for the polymerization of diolefin monomers consists of a salt of lanthanide, an organometallic metal compound belonging to groups I, II, and III of the periodic system of elements, and an organometallic boron compound. The resulting polymers have a high level of 1,4-units and, if necessary, the ratio between 1,4-cis and 1,4-trans units, as well as a narrow molecular weight distribution.
