Bound cyclic compounds of the formula Z - R - A - R'- y are described in which Z and Y are identical cyclic polyamine fragments containing 9 to 20 members and 3 to 6 amine nitrogen atoms in the ring, separated from each other by two or more atoms carbon; A is an aromatic or heteroaromatic moiety other than quinoline; R and R 'are the methylene group attached to the nitrogen atoms in Z and Y, while in other cases the new nitrogen atoms are unsubstituted, and their acid addition salts and complexes with metals, the method for their preparation and pharmaceutical composition. These compounds exhibit anti-HIV activity and may be useful for the treatment of AIDS and other viral, in particular retroviral infections. |
