abstract | FIELD: lubricants.SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a lubricating oil composition suitable for lubricating internal combustion engines and providing a reduced wear rate, to reduce wear in the presence of a zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate compound and soot, wherein the nitrogen-containing ashless dispersant has a functionality (F) of 1.5 to 1.9, wherein functionality (F) is defined in accordance with the following formula: F = (SAP × Mn)/((1122 × A.I.) − (SAP × MW)) (1), where SAP is a saponification number, wherein the saponification number is the number of milligrams of KOH, consumed with complete neutralization of acid groups in one gram of amber group-containing reaction product, as determined in accordance with ASTM D94; Mn denotes the number-average molecular weight of the starting olefin polymer; AI denotes the percentage of the active ingredient of the reaction product containing an amber group; and MW denotes the molecular weight of the dicarboxylic acid-producing moiety, said nitrogen-containing ashless dispersant comprises polyisobutylene succinimide, and said nitrogen-containing ashless dispersant is present in the lubricating composition in such an amount to provide a nitrogen level of 0.05 to 0.1 wt. % relative to the weight of the lubricating composition.EFFECT: reduced wear when using lubricating compositions containing zinc dithiophosphate compounds in the presence of soot.1 cl, 2 tbl, 4 ex |
