titleOfInvention Endoscopic intraluminal method for closing chronic esophageal fistula
abstract FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to interventional endoscopy. Under endoscopic control, through the instrument channel of the endoscope, an endoscopic injector is delivered to the fistulous opening, a circular injection of 0.9 % saline 10 ml into the submucosal layer of the esophagus at a distance of at least 0.5 cm from the edge of the fistula. Then, using an endoscopic knife, two semicircular mucosal incisions are made within the submucosal layer from opposite edges of the fistulous opening. Using the endoscopic clip-applicator, the medial mucosal flaps are reduced to the center of the fistulous opening by titanium clips, thereafter, the completely coated esophageal stent is placed for three weeks so that the coated portion of the stent completely overlaps the clipping area. n EFFECT: method is technically simple to implement, allows avoiding traumatic reconstructive operations, reducing length of rehabilitation period, reducing mortality and improving patient’s quality of life. n 1 cl, 1 ex
