abstract FIELD: veterinary medicine.SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of veterinary medicine, namely to a product in the form of a composition for the prevention or treatment of mastitis in cows, where the product contains effective amount of polymer composite obtained by a sol-gel method, formed from a combination of chitosan, hydrophilic polymer containing methylcellulose, a gel-forming agent containing salt selected from a group consisting of sodium pyrophosphate tetrabasic, potassium phosphate dibasic trihydrate and mixture thereof, and an acidic water-based medium, also relates to a method for the prevention or treatment of mastitis in cows, including the injection of effective amount of the product containing polymer composite obtained by the sol-gel method into a nipple, nipple canal or nipple part of an animal milk tank, also relates to a system for forming a physical barrier in the nipple canal or the nipple part of the cow milk tank for the prevention or treatment of mastitis, wherein a delivery system includes a syringe containing the product containing polymer composite obtained by the sol-gel method, and also relates to a composition of polymer composite obtained by the sol-gel method for the prevention or treatment of mastitis in cows containing chitosan, hydrophilic polymer containing methylcellulose, a gel-forming agent containing salt, which is sodium pyrophosphate tetrabasic, potassium phosphate dibasic trihydrate or a mixture thereof, in an acidic water-based medium, wherein polymer composite obtained by the sol-gel method forms stable solid in response to one or several physiological stimuli, at physiological temperature, wherein the specified stable solid, as it is proved, has an elastic modulus (G’) from 450 Pa to 10,000 Pa.EFFECT: group of inventions provides the formation of polymer composite that can form a reliable seal or stable solid in response to one or several physiological stimuli.15 cl, 9 dwg, 22 tbl, 12 ex
