titleOfInvention | Method for manufacturing a cement spacer for etiotropic local antibacterial therapy for infectious affections of bones and joints |
abstract | FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to surgery, and can be used in traumatology and orthopedics, namely, to a method for manufacturing a cement spacer for etiotropic local antibacterial therapy for infectious affections of bones and joints. The method involves mixing a polymethylmethacrylate powder of bone cement containing gentamicin with a broad-spectrum antibiotic and with Poviargolum. At the same time, an individually selected water-soluble thermostable antibiotic in the amount of 10 wt. % is additionally injected intraoperatively into the bone cement with gentamicin in the form of a powder and, with the necessary duration of antimicrobial activity for 21 days, Poviargolum powder is used in an amount of 2.5 wt. % or in the amount of 10 wt. % if the required duration of antimicrobial activity is more than 21 days. Then a liquid monomer of bone cement based on methyl methacrylate is added and mixed until a paste of a dough-like consistency is obtained, after which the spacer components are made.EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of individual selection of local etiotropic antibacterial therapy, the implementation of the necessary duration of effective antimicrobial action of the spacer, the prevention of the formation of microbial biofilms on the surface of the structure, as well as the elimination of technical problems when removing the implant at the stages of surgical treatment while maintaining sufficient strength characteristics of the spacer.1 cl, 2 ex, 4 dwg |
