titleOfInvention | Method for decomposition of isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide to produce dimethylphenylcarbinol |
abstract | FIELD: chemical industrySUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the decomposition of isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide to produce dimethylphenylcarbinol, which is a raw material for the production of a-methylstyrene, a valuable monomer for the production of synthetic rubbers, latexes, and various water-resistant sealants. The method is applied at a temperature of 130°C in the presence of a catalyst in the amount of 0.005-0.01 mol/l, being 2-ethylhexanoate of potassium.EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase the conversion of isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide to 40%, with selectivity for dimethylphenylcarbinol of 89-82%.1 cl, 1 tbl, 3 ex |
