FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing para-tert-butylcumol (PTBC), which is used for producing polymers and copolymers for creating compositions of paints, coatings and thermosetting resins. The method consists in the alkylation of cumene with tert-butyl alcohol (TBA). Concentrated sulfuric acid is used as a catalyst, while it is added to the reaction mixture, maintaining the temperature at 10-25°C. Next, the process is carried out at a temperature of 10-35°C for 30-180 minutes at a molar ratio of cumene: TBA:H 2 SO 4 - 3:1:3. n EFFECT: high yields of para-tert-butylcumene, which does not contain impurities of ortho- and meta-isomers. n 1 cl, 3 ex |
