titleOfInvention Method for removing silicone oil using an ultrasonic vitreotome
abstract FIELD: ophthalmology. n SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic vitreotome needle is inserted into one transconjunctival scleral puncture in the projection of the flat part of the ciliary body with the location of the working end of the vitreotome needle in the center of the pupil projection at a distance from the posterior capsule of the lens or intraocular lens. Through another transconjunctival scleral puncture in the projection of the flat part of the ciliary body, a constant supply of irrigation solution is established. To remove the silicone oil, ultrasonic vibrations are organized at the working end of the vitreotome needle to organize the fragmentation of the silicone oil to low molecular weight compounds. The fragmented silicone oil is then removed through the aspiration line of the ophthalmic surgical system. n EFFECT: method improves efficiency of aspiration of silicone oil for completeness of its removal, including from the above-mentioned hard-to-reach places of the vitreous cavity. n 1 cl, 2 ex
