abstract FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to therapy, pulmonology, cardiology, functional diagnostics, preventive medicine, and can be used for assessing preclinical left ventricular myocardium in persons without cardiovascular diseases, namely in smoking patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) of mild degree and arterial hypertension (AH) of the I stage – without target organ damage. Local left ventricular myocardial deformation is measured by speckle-tracking echocardiography. That is followed by calculating average left ventricular deformation in the basal, medial and apical segments. Further, ratios of mean values of local longitudinal deformation of left ventricle in basal and medial segments to apical segments are determined. If observing values of ratio of average local left ventricular deformation in basal segments to apical segments less than 0.74 and in the medial segments to the apical segments less than 0.8, or only the ratio of the average local myocardial deformation values in the basal segments to the apical segments is less than 0.74, preclinical signs of left ventricle deformation change are diagnosed. n EFFECT: method enables improving diagnosis of early changes in ventricular myocardium in persons without cardiovascular diseases, namely smokers of mild COPD patients and stage I AH without target organ damage, to overestimate cardiovascular risk, to reconsider volume and type of therapeutic and preventive measures due to evaluation of set of the most important indicators. n 1 cl, 6 ex
