FIELD: chemical or physical processes.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of absorbing one or more nitrogen oxides from a gaseous and/or aerosol medium. Method comprises contacting a gaseous and/or aerosol medium, containing nitrogen oxides with surface modified calcium carbonate having specific BET surface area of 10–200 m2/g. Surface-modified calcium carbonate is a reaction product of natural ground calcium carbonate or precipitated calcium carbonate with carbon dioxide and one or more donors of H3O+ions, wherein carbon dioxide is formedin situby treatment with donors of H3O+ions and/or is supplied from an external source.EFFECT: higher efficiency of removing nitrogen oxides from gaseous or aerosol medium.17 cl, 3 tbl, 3 ex, 1 dwg |
