FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an alkene oxidation method. Method includes: (a) contacting an alkene and (i) an oxidising electrophile containing a basic group element selected from thallium, lead, antimony, mercury, tin, selenium, tellurium, arsenic, iodine or bismuth, in an oxidised form, or (ii) an oxidising agent and a reduced form of an oxidising electrophile, in a liquid medium containing an oxygenic acid to obtain, without the need for molecular oxygen, an oxygenate and a reduced form of an oxidising electrophile. n EFFECT: method avoids the use of epoxide intermediate compounds and the presence of halides. n 20 cl, 6 dwg, 2 tbl, 5 ex |
