abstract | FIELD: biotechnology.SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biotechnology. Disclosed is an electrode for an electrochemical sensor, an electrochemical sensor for measuring concentration of an analyte, a method of making an electrode and a method for measuring an analyte in a medium. Electrode contains a conducting surface and a conjugate. Conjugate comprises an enzyme molecule and a nanoparticle covalently bonded to each other, which generates and/or consumes HO. Conjugate is covalently bonded to the electrode surface through an enzyme molecule, and the nanoparticle is not bonded covalently to the electrode surface. Sensor contains the above electrode. Method of making an electrode involves modifying an enzyme molecule which generates and/or consumes HO, a functionalising reagent, obtaining a conjugate from an enzyme molecule and a metal nanoparticle and covalent bonding of the conjugate to the conducting surface of the electrode.
