titleOfInvention Method of converting nuclear energy (energy of radioactive decay and/or fission) into optical energy and device for implementation thereof
abstract FIELD: physics. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a means of converting nuclear energy (energy of radioactive decay and/or fission) into optical energy and can be used for pumping active medium of a laser. Invention provides passage of nuclear particles through at least one layer of activated scintillator to obtain radiation of narrow spectrum or several narrow spectra in range from infrared (IR) to ultraviolet (UV) and subsequent conversion of obtained radiation into energy of coherent laser radiation. Wherein an arrangement is made for an activated scintillator at a certain distance to the active medium of the laser in a solid or liquid aggregate state and transmitting said pumping radiation from the activated scintillator to the active laser medium through the gradient waveguide with introduction of said radiation through the side surface of the waveguide, partially or over its entire length and/or through its end surface. n EFFECT: high efficiency of converting energy of nuclear radiation into energy of a narrow-spectrum photon and obtaining a pumping means for lasers with high specific power. n 2 cl, 3 dwg, 2 tbl
