FIELD: chemical or physical processes. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to controlling production of polyisocyanates. Disclosed is a method of producing aromatic polyisocyanate in an apparatus for producing isocyanates containing a reactor section for a phosgenation reaction, where primary aromatic amine reacts with phosgene compounds in reactor section to obtain reaction product containing isocyanate, and where concentration of CO 2 in gases coming from reactor section, measured and analyzed, and wherein the phosgenation reaction conditions are controlled when CO 2 concentration in gases coming from the reactor section is higher than the background concentration of CO 2 .
