FIELD: biotechnology. n SUBSTANCE: described is a group of inventions involving a method of reducing a viral load in a Varroa destructor mite, a method of suppressing viral replication in a mite Varroa destructor and a method for reducing the susceptibility of a bee to a disease caused by a bee virus. Said methods include providing a Varroa destructor mite containing an effective amount of at least one double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), containing a nucleic acid sequence identical or complementary to a sequence of at least 21 adjacent nucleotides of the bee virus gene.
