abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to synthesis of aromatic hydrocarbons from synthesis gas, particularly relates to a catalyst and method of synthesis of aromatic hydrocarbons by direct conversion of synthesis gas. In the method, synthesis gas is used as raw material, and the method is carried out in a reactor with a fixed bed or with a moving layer. Syngas pressure makes 0.1-6 MPa, reaction temperature makes 300–600 °C, and volumetric rate is 500-8000 h -1. Catalyst used is a catalyst which is a composite catalyst consisting of components A and B and formed by compounding catalytic component A and catalytic component B in mechanical mixing mode. Active component of catalytic component A is active metal oxides, and catalytic component B is one or both of zeolite ZSM-5 and modified by metal selected from Zn, Ga, Sn, Mn, Ag, Zr zeolite ZSM-5. Active metal oxide is one or more of MnO, MnCr 2 O 4 , MnAl 2 O 4 , MnZrO 4 , ZnO, ZnCr 2 O 4 and ZnAl 2 O 4 , having molar amount of oxygen atoms on the surface at a distance of up to 0.3 nm from grain surface of 80–10 % of theoretical stoichiometric amount. Distance between geometrical centers of particles of active metal oxide in catalytic component A and geometrical centers of particles of catalytic component B ranges from 5 nm to 4 mm. Specific surface of macropores and specific surface of mesopores make 5–25 % of total specific surface area. Reaction process has high output of the product and selectivity, wherein aromatic selectivity reaches 50–85 %, while the selectivity for the by-product of methane is lower than 15 %. n EFFECT: present invention has high potential for industrial application. n 12 cl, 7 tbl
