FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a lubricating composition for lubricating an internal combustion engine comprising (i) base oil and (ii) a metal-free phosphonate compound, which is diamilyl amylphosphonate (DAAP), in an amount in range of 0.4 to 1.2 wt. % with respect to the total weight of the lubricating oil composition. Present invention also describes use of the lubricating composition as an engine oil for a diesel engine of a passenger car for operation under severe operating conditions and to provide low wear.
