FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for oxidising acrolein to acrylic acid, a method for production thereof, use thereof for catalytic oxidation in the gaseous phase of acrolein to acrylic acid and a method of producing acrylic acid by acrolein gas phase oxidation with molecular oxygen on a fixed catalyst bed. Oxidation catalyst includes at least one inorganic oxide or ceramic molded carrier article with a BET surface area of less than 0.5 m 2 /g, wherein BET surface area lower limit is 0.01 m 2 /g, based on a support which is coated with formation of a solid coating having a catalytic activity of a multi-element oxide corresponding to general formula (I) Mo 12 V a X 1 b X 2 c X 3 d X 4 e X 5 f O n (I), where X 1 means W, Nb, Ta, Cr and/or Ce, X 2 means Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn and/or Zn, X 3 denotes Sb and/or Bi, X 4 means one or more alkali and/or alkali-earth metals and/or N, X 5 means Si, Al, Ti and/or Zr, a means a number ranging from 1 to 6, b denotes a number within range of 0.2 to 4, c denotes a number ranging from 0 to 18, preferably from 0.5 to 3, d denotes number from 0 to 40, e is number between 0 and 4, f is number between 0 and 40, and n is a stoichiometric coefficient of the oxygen element, which is determined by stoichiometric coefficients of elements other than oxygen, as well as their charge number in general formula (I), wherein the catalyst is free from noble metals, and the molded carrier article has a seat shape, the saddle surface of which in both main directions is curved in an opposite manner. Inorganic oxide or ceramic carrier, if necessary with combined use of a binding agent, is coated with multi-element oxide powder. n EFFECT: catalyst has improved selectivity and is characterized by less pressure loss. n 9 cl, 4 dwg, 4 tbl, 3 ex |
