titleOfInvention Method for objective assessment of clinical effectiveness of floating opacity of vitreous body by yag-laser vitreolysis
abstract FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, radiation diagnostics, and can be used for objective assessment of clinical effectiveness of floating opacity of vitreous body (FOVB) by YAG-laser vitreolysis method. Ultrasonic examination of vitreous body in B-scan mode is performed. At first, prior to YAG-laser vitreolysis, three scans are performed in two mutually perpendicular planes: sagittal and frontal through a localization zone FOVB. Further, each scan is digitally processed in an ImageJ computer program, namely, a central portion of a vitreous body is selected in the form of a circle with diameter of 10 mm. In the same program, in each selected section, a measure is measured – averaged gray value in pixels. Then, the six derived values are used to calculate an average pre-treatment value. One month after YAG-laser vitreolysis the same value is calculated similarly. If re-examination shows decreasing averaged value of gray by more than 10 %, then treatment is considered to be effective; by 5–10 % – treatment is considered ineffective, recommended is additional session of YAG-laser vitreolysis; less than by 5 % – treatment is considered ineffective, vitrectomy is recommended. n EFFECT: method provides higher speed, accuracy, reliability and objectivity of diagnostics of FOVB before and after YAG-laser vitreolysis by measuring averaged gray value in pixels in central area of vitreous body on six scans during digital processing in computer program ImageJ of ultrasonic examination in B-scan mode. n 1 cl, 3 ex
