abstract | FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a radioisotope of molybdenum-99, which is the basis for creating radioisotope generators Mo-99/Tc-99m used in nuclear medicine for diagnostic purposes. Method involves making molybdenum target with isotope enrichment with respect to molybdenum 98 isotope 10–100 %, its irradiation with neutron flux, further dissolution of target in acid and alkali solutions to obtain solution of sodium molybdate Na 2 MoO 4 , which is used to fill technetium-99m generators (Mo-99/Tc-99m). Irradiated target is fluorinated to molybdenum hexafluoride, molybdenum hexafluoride is enriched with isotope Mo-99 in gas centrifuges to obtain Mo-99 fraction with specific activity not lower than 5,000 Ci/g, and depleted in Mo-99 fraction with Mo-99 specific activity is not more than 0.1 Ci/g. Then, enriched fraction of Mo-99 in form of 99 MoF 6 by centrifugal separation, wherein working gas in gas centrifuges is molybdenum hexafluoride, and depleted fraction is used for repeated production of target. n EFFECT: high specific activity of radioactive molybdenum-99 to values greater than 5,000 Ci/g, corresponding to "fragmentation" Mo-99 with possibility of multiple use of molybdenum for fabrication of target and reduction of radioactive wastes of production. n 5 cl, 3 ex |
