abstract FIELD: technological processes.SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of processing a nitrated/carbon-nitrated article, involving: subjecting at least part of article to first stage, at which at least one laser beam is moved in at least one passage above said part until surface layer of selected part is partially or completely transformed, and until distribution concentration of nitrogen in diffusion zone will not be changed, and subjecting the surface layer of the portion at least treated by the laser to a second step, at which at least one laser beam is moved in at least one passage above said portion to enable reduction of nitrogen concentration in the underlying diffusion layer. Also disclosed is a method of welding a nitrated/carbon-nitrated article, involving forming a welded joint on a part of an article treated by said method.EFFECT: high quality of welding due to conversion of surface layer of article by changing distribution of nitrogen concentration in diffusion zone.8 cl, 8 dwg
