titleOfInvention Tissue thickness compensation layer comprising deployable attachment members for anvil of stapler
abstract FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to surgical cutting and stapling instruments and staple cartridges, which are configured for cutting and stapling tissue. Staple cartridge for use with a surgical stapling instrument, wherein the surgical stapling instrument includes an anvil facing the staple cartridge assembly, wherein the anvil includes a groove. Staple cartridge assembly comprises a staple cartridge housing, which includes staple cavities, staples located inside the staple cavities, a layer and a retaining device. Layer includes a housing and a deployable fastener. Housing is configured for placement relative to the surface of the anvil of the surgical stapling instrument. Deployable fastener is formed in the housing, wherein the deployable fastener is movable between a non-deployed position and a deployed position. When the deployable fastener is in the non-deployed position, the fastener is in the plane formed by the housing. When the deployable fastener is in the deployed position, the fastener extends from the plane of the housing, and in the deployed position, the deployable fastener is adapted to engage the groove of the anvil of the surgical stapling instrument. Retaining device is arranged to interact with release with the housing of the staple cartridge and is located between the housing of the staple cartridge and the layer. Retaining device comprises a surface and a deploying element. Surface is configured to support with clamping of at least a portion of the housing of the layer to the anvil. Deploying element is adapted to deploy the deployable fastening element of the layer into the groove of the anvil after the layer is supported with clamping against the anvil. Layer for use with a surgical stapling instrument, the surgical stapling instrument comprising an anvil facing the staple cartridge, the anvil including a groove. Layer comprises a layer housing and a deployable fastener. Layer housing is arranged to be positioned relative to the surface of the anvil of the surgical stapling instrument. Deployable fastener is formed in the housing, and the deployable fastener is movable between a non-deployed configuration and a deployed configuration. When the deployable fastener is in a non-deployed configuration, the fastener is in the plane formed by the housing. When the deployable fastener is in the deployed configuration, the fastener extends from the plane of the housing, and in the deployed configuration, the deployable fastener is adapted to cooperate with the anvil of the surgical stapling instrument. n EFFECT: use of inventions allows to compensate for changes in tissue thickness from one side of the staple cartridge to the other. n 16 cl, 294 dwg
