titleOfInvention Method and system for administration of pulmonary surfactant by atomisation
abstract FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment. System for delivering a medicament, comprising a pulmonary surfactant to patients that are spontaneously breathing preterm neonates, comprises a catheter adapted to reach the retro-pharyngeal region of the patient and having least a first channel adapted to convey in the patient's pharyngeal region a flow of liquid medicament and at least a second channel adapted to convey in the patient's pharyngeal region a pressurised flow of gas. First pump means is connected to a first end of the first channel and is adapted to create a pressure which pushes the column of liquid medicament towards the second end of the at least first channel. Second pump means is connected to a first end of the second channel and is adapted to create the flow of pressurised gas, so that when the column of liquid medicament and the pressurised gas meet in the pharyngeal cavity, the liquid column is broken into a plurality of fine particles causing the atomised medicament to be delivered into the patient's lungs. Pressure detector is spatially separate from the first and second channel and serves for measuring values indicative of the pressure in the patient pharyngeal cavity, such values being used to determine whether the patient is in an inspiration or in an expiration phase. Pressure detector comprises a third channel adapted to convey to the patients pharyngeal region a flow of an aqueous solution; a third pump means connected to a first end of the third channel and adapted to create the flow of aqueous solution; and a pressure sensor connected to the third channel for measuring a value indicative of the pressure on the flow of the aqueous solution. First pump means is adapted for selective activation only in the inspiratory phase. Kit for delivering a medicament into a patient's retro-pharyngeal space by atomisation is disclosed. n EFFECT: technical result consists in providing automatic synchronisation of delivery of a medicament with respiratory rhythm. n 13 cl, 8 dwg, 2 tbl
