titleOfInvention Composition based on secondary polyethylene from cable waste
abstract FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition of polyethylene intended for the manufacture of articles and a process for the preparation of said composition. Composition comprises a base polymer and an inorganic filler which is present in the composition in an amount of 1 to 50 % by weight of the total weight of the composition. Base polymer contains the first cross-linked polyethylene (PEX), with a gel content measured according to ASTM D 2765:2006, ranging from 5 % to 80 % of the total weight of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) derived from recycled waste, and a second polyethylene (PE) selected from primary and secondary polyethylene or mixtures thereof. Composition of the invention has an improved balance between stiffness and flexural elasticity, good ductility, expressed in elongation at break, along with a tensile breaking stress. In addition, the carbon footprint of products obtained using secondary PEX is lower compared to products derived from primary polyethylene.EFFECT: composition based on secondary polyethylene from cable waste is proposed.15 cl, 3 tbl
