abstract | FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and is intended for predicting the rate of progression of glaucoma optic neuropathy. In the tear fluid, the concentrations of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 are determined by the enzyme immunoassay and then the ratio is calculated. With a ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 of 163.3±6.5 predict a rapid progression of glaucoma optic neuropathy. With a ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 of 61.4±4.8 predict a slow progression.
