abstract FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, specifically to ophthalmology, and is intended for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases. Pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases in which steroid compound side effects are weakened, comprises a combination of: (a) a mixture of a lipid mass comprising a phospholipid or a mixture of phospholipids; and (b) a solution of a steroid compound containing an effective amount of a water-soluble ophthalmic steroid compound selected from a group consisting of dexamethasone sodium phosphate, dexamethasone, betamethasone, betamethasone sodium phosphate and fluocortolone, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Total amount of phospholipids in the lipid mass mixture in said pharmaceutical composition ranges from about 0.1 mcmol to less than about 2.5 mcmol per 50 mcl of the pharmaceutical composition. Said composition is used in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of an ophthalmic disease where steroid compound side effects are weakened.
