abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for modifying technical lignins by sol-gel synthesis, wherein the method is carried out exclusively in the aqueous medium at low concentrations of aqueous dispersions of main components (lignins of different origin (2–5 %) and gel composition SiO 2 , TiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 not more than 2 %), control of pH of systems before mixing (7–11 for lignins, not more than 2.5–3.0 for compositions SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , TiO 2 ) and further, at the time of the sol formation, provides modified forms of lignin in the self-organizing mode with the maturation of a new multipurpose gel hybrid product based on the dominant matrix in the form of lignin or a mineral component selected according to the required degree of participation of the components to reduce the dustiness of surfaces. Proposed method for modifying lignin is an environmentally safe and is based on the use of secondary raw material of vegetable and mineral origin while obtaining new hybrid products. n EFFECT: method provides a number of modified technical lignins in the form of hybrid products with a set of functional groups characteristic of lignins with varying degrees of participation of mineral components in its modification; these properties determine the possible range of use of new gel compositions. n 1 cl, 1 tbl, 3 dwg, 5 ex
