abstract FIELD: physics, nuclear physics. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the mechanisms of control systems and the protection of nuclear reactors, namely to the mechanisms of emergency protection of nuclear reactors. Device contains a working body of emergency protection, a means of holding the working element, a means for accelerating the working element, a means of braking the working member and a pneumatic cylinder with a piston. Piston is rigidly connected to the working member. Acceleration means is connected to the control and protection system unit and is made in the form of a pyrotechnic gas generator connected to the working cavity of the pneumatic cylinder. Means of braking the working element is made in the exhaust cavity of the pneumatic cylinder. n EFFECT: increasing reliability, simplifying the design, reducing the weight and dimensions, the ability to operate over a wide range of temperatures, improving safety, and also maintenance of working capacity of the device irrespective of its position in space. n 3 cl, 2 dwg
