titleOfInvention | Methods and devices for drug delivery to eye tissue with microneedle |
abstract | FIELD: pharmacology. n SUBSTANCE: device for drug administration to the patient's eye contains a hollow microneedle having a sharp end and a channel through which liquid can be transferred through the microneedle; a body of the device for microneedle holding, having an end serving as the base from which the microneedle extends; and a drive for controlled infusion of the liquid medicinal composition through the microneedle. The device is configured to insert the microneedle tip at the injection site into the sclerotic coat and is configured to insert a liquid medicinal composition by infusion into the suprachoroidal space and away from the site of administration. A method for medicament administration to the patient's eye comprises hollow microneedle insertion into the sclerotic coat at the site of administration and infusion of a liquid medicinal composition containing the drug in an amount effective to deliver this drug to the suprachoroidal space, over a period of time, through a microneedle inserted into the suprachoroidal space of the eye. The medicinal composition introduced by infusion circulates within the suprachoroidal space away from the site of administration. n EFFECT: high-precision drug delivery, reduced invasiveness. n 30 cl, 32 dwg, 1 tbl |
