abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: method comprises the steps of (a) preparing an aqueous solution of a mixture of metal salts of cerium, zirconium and aluminium, this aqueous solution containing one or more rare earth metal salts other than cerium, (b) adding to the solution produced in step (a), basing in the presence of H 2 O 2, at the temperatures of 0°C to 95°C, and depositing the mixed metal salts in the form of hydroxides or oxy-hydroxides, (c) optional allocating the precipitate produced in step (b), (d) processing the aqueous suspension produced in step (b), or the allocated precipitate produced in step (c), using the surfactants selected from the group consisting of Triton®, Tergitol®, nonionic surfactants containing the unit ethylene oxide/propylene oxide, ethylvinylacetate, copolymers of ethylene oxide/propylene oxide and lauric acid, and (e) discharging sediment produced in step (d) and processing the specified precipitate at the temperature of 450°C to 1200°C. The aluminium content calculated in terms of the produced aluminium oxide is in the range of 45 to 55 wt % of the composition and the specific surface area (BET surface area) of the produced composition, measured in accordance with DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm) 66131, after calcination for 2 hours at 1100°C is from 55 to 80 m 2 /g. n EFFECT: production of multicomponent oxides based on cerium oxide-zirconium oxide-aluminium oxide with significantly higher thermoal stability. n 8 cl, 22 ex
